April 2014: Tips, eNews and More!

It has been a very long and frigid winter but everyone at the Haas Dental Team has been trying to make the best of the cold weather. When it is especially cold we try to make it as fun as possible for kids by creating indoor activities.

Here is what we've been up to:

Dr. Dan has been busy spending time with his two lovely daughters, Yael and Limona. Limona has been taking skiing lessons and is having a lot of fun learning a new sport. Yael has been busy rehearsing for her upcoming play, Grease.

Diana got a chance to attend Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience concert tour. She had an amazing time. She was very impressed that JT started his performance on time. She was so close to the stage that at one point she even got to touch his jacket.

When it isn't too cold, Celia has been taking her daughter Monica to the neighbourhood skating rink on the weekends. Monica is still a beginner in skating but improves so much every time she visits the rink! Celia also got the chance to join her mom in a fundraiser dinner for Breast Cancer Awareness. It was nice to get out of the house and spend some quality time with her mom.

Nicole had a great Valentine's Day surprise from her husband Eddie. Two tickets to New York City! They went out of town for the weekend and did a lot of sight seeing and shopping. They visited Times Square, Central Park, and the American Museum of Natural History. They also had a chance to go to a live taping of Good Morning America and the Today Show!

Antonella enjoyed spending Family Day with her four kids. They spent the holiday playing board games like Monopoly and eating munchies.

Her kids have also been busy with their extra curricular activities. Her eldest daughter Isabella and her youngest son Andrew have been practicing their dance routines because competitions will be starting shortly. Her oldest son Adriano recently got his red and black stripe belt in karate and was super excited, and her 20 month old daughter Gabriella has been saying a lot more words lately and insists on eating on her own.

Have a fun and safe month,

The Team at Haas Dental Centre

Do You Need Dental Implants?

Going through life with missing teeth is not only a problem of aesthetics, it can also lead to more serious dental problems, such as tooth shifting, malocclusion (misaligned bite), deterioration of the jawbone in the vacant space, or difficulties with chewing and speaking.

One of the most effective solutions to correct missing teeth in modern dentistry is dental implants. Toronto general cosmetic dentist Dr. Haas is trained to perform the dental implant procedure in our Bathurst Manor dental office, as opposed to sending you to an outside oral surgeon.

The "Root" of the Problem
When teeth are missing in a person's smile, the tooth root is also missing. Dental implants act as replacement tooth roots with an abutment that sits above the gum line on which a replacement tooth can be attached.

Guilt-Free Comfort Food

A big bowl of pasta makes great comfort food.

Who can resist rich pasta topped with a thick and creamy sauce? And despite how delicious this recipe is, there's no reason to be afraid of carbs and calories. This Brown Rice Pesto Pasta is complete comfort without the guilt!

Pesto is a fun, easy sauce to make. It is full of chlorophyll and protein. The miso and pinenuts give it a "cheesy" flavour. Pesto tastes great on anything from brown rice pasta and quinoa, to homemade pizza crust, on wraps or simply as a dip for veggies. If beans are added to this recipe it will give your pasta a hearty boost of protein and fiber and make each bowl of pasta more filling!
